The City Council of Los Palacios and Villafranca has presented the seventh edition of the cycle 'This Summer I Stay with You', featuring eight free performances from July 10 to September 5 in various neighbourhoods and districts.
The Culture Delegation of the City Council of Los Palacios and Villafranca has unveiled the programme for the seventh edition of the summer cycle "This Summer I Stay with You", an initiative that will bring eight free shows to different neighbourhoods and districts of the municipality between July 10 and September 5. The aim, according to municipal sources, is to decentralise cultural offerings and promote community living, as well as to give a boost to local hospitality during the summer months.
A Cycle Born After the Pandemic to Reclaim the Streets
The mayor, Juan Manuel Valle, and the Culture delegate, Manuel Carvajal, presented this week a programme that started in 2021, after the health crisis, with the idea of returning activity to public spaces. Valle highlighted that the format has resonated with residents and has the support of local businesses, who see these events as a catalyst for their terraces.
To finance the activities, the City Council has the support of the Provincial Council of Seville and the Junta de Andalucía, the latter through the Andalusian Network of Public Theatres. The mayor recalled that this cycle complements the recent Music Week, which featured around twenty concerts in the municipality.
Jazz, Circus, Flamenco, and Pop for All Audiences
The agenda kicks off on Friday July 10 at 21:30 hours, with jazz from The Four Women Quartet in the Plaza de la Almazara. On Thursday, July 16, the circus of La Banda de Otro will land at the Paseo de la Democracia, next to the 'Cervantes' school. Nine days later, on Saturday, July 25, Isa Fernández will offer a musical tribute in the El Arboleda neighbourhood, while on Friday, July 31, the month will close with the swing of Padilla Siblings at the Bulevar Siglo XXI.
In August, the programme continues on Thursday 6 with the circus-theatre show by David Cebrián in the Plaza Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente. The puppet theatre of the company Ángeles de Trapo will take over on Thursday, August 13, near the La Luna del Horcajo Nursery. The last two events will move to the districts: on Saturday, August 22, Carmen Fernández will perform fusion flamenco in the Plaza del Comercio of El Trobal, and the final closure will arrive on Saturday, September 5, with the pop-rock of the group Indiana in the Plaza Mayor of Maribáñez.
All performances are free and designed for a family audience. The usual time is at 21:30 hours, unless stated otherwise. The City Council encourages residents to bring chairs and take the opportunity to dine at nearby establishments, which usually set up special terraces on those days.
The cycle "This Summer I Stay with You" has become a staple in the summer calendar of Los Palacios. In previous editions, attendance has been growing, and it is expected that this year, with the return to post-pandemic normality, the squares and parks of the municipality will once again be filled with people. The varied and quality offerings demonstrate that you don't have to go far to enjoy the summer.
