The viewing platform of the Water Tower of Los Palacios and Villafranca extends its hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 20:00 to 22:00 to enjoy sunsets from 30 metres high.

The Town Hall of Los Palacios and Villafranca has launched a special summer schedule at the Water Tower, allowing locals and tourists to admire sunsets from its 360-degree viewpoint. The initiative will be active on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 20:00 to 22:00, as reported by the mayor, Juan Manuel Valle.

The Water Tower, standing at 30 metres tall with five thematic floors, has become a tourist attraction since its renovation in 2022. During the guided tour, attendees explore spaces dedicated to the history of water, wetlands, and the colonisation villages of the Lower Guadalquivir, such as El Trobal, Maribáñez, and Los Chapatales.

A Viewing Platform with Views of the Marsh and Countryside

From the rooftop, equipped with high-powered binoculars, one can see the palatial marsh, rice fields, nearby hills, and, on clear days, landmarks such as the Torre Sevilla or the Centenary Bridge. "It is a unique experience to contemplate our town, its districts, the marsh, the countryside, and the hills from a privileged perspective," highlighted the mayor.

The tour includes a vertical exhibition on the transformation of water and its importance for local development, as well as the historical evolution of the tower itself, inaugurated in 1971 as a supply infrastructure. The facility is fully accessible: it has an elevator, accessible restrooms, resting areas, and a viewpoint for people with reduced mobility.

Free Visits with Prior Reservation

In addition to the special sunset hours, regular guided tours take place from Tuesday to Saturday with slots at 9:30 and 11:30. All are free, but require prior reservation, which can be made at the Tourist Office, by calling 667 621 748, or through the website Destino Los Palacios. For groups of more than ten people, specific assistance is offered with advance reservation.

For the residents of Los Palacios, this is an opportunity to rediscover their own municipality from above, while tourists can take home a postcard of the marsh at sunset. The initiative will be in effect during the summer months, and the Town Hall encourages everyone to make the most of the daylight hours.
