The Huévar del Aljarafe Town Hall has reported that a PP councillor, now non-affiliated, has been neglecting her duties and allegedly committing irregularities, such as organising a skating workshop without a qualified instructor.

The Huévar del Aljarafe Town Hall has put a councillor, who until now was part of the Popular Municipal Group, in the spotlight. According to the Town Hall, the councillor has become a non-affiliated councillor after her responsibilities were removed due to "repeated neglect of duties" and "alleged irregularities in her management." The mayor, María Eugenia Moreno, has not held back in her comments regarding the situation.

A skating workshop without paperwork

One of the most concerning episodes is the launch of a skating workshop. According to municipal sources, the councillor organised the activity "without the responsible instructor meeting the necessary administrative and legal requirements." This means that the children and residents who participated did so without the minimum guarantees of an accredited professional. This has been received as a cold shower in a village like Huévar, where such activities are closely monitored.

But that was not all. The Town Hall also points out that the councillor "disengaged from the necessary management" for the opening of the municipal swimming pool. A key service in summer that, due to her neglect, could have been delayed or even not opened at all. Residents, who were eagerly awaiting a swim, would have been disappointed had it not been for the intervention of other officials.

Unlicensed works at her own home

The final straw, according to the Town Hall, came when they discovered that the councillor was carrying out works on her home "without having requested the necessary license." This is something that, as the Town Hall reminds, "is reproachable in any citizen, but intolerable for a public official." The mayor, María Eugenia Moreno, has been clear: she requested her resignation "so that her position could be filled by someone who meets the required standards."

In light of the councillor's refusal to resign, she decided to leave the Municipal Group and become a non-affiliated councillor. The mayor has not hidden her displeasure: "It is true that the law allows her to retain her position, but it is also true that she ran for election on the PP list, which is why she was elected, and that, by not meeting the required standards of exemplary conduct and professionalism, she should not disappoint the residents of Huévar del Aljarafe and should hand in her position."

A concerning precedent in Aljarafe

The case has caused a stir in the region, where it is unusual for a Town Hall to publicly air the alleged irregularities of a councillor in this manner. For the residents of Huévar, the situation is at least uncomfortable: seeing how a person who came to the position to serve is now being pointed out for alleged mishaps. The mayor has made it clear that she will not tolerate "lack of exemplary conduct" and that she will remain vigilant to ensure that the other councillors fulfil their obligations.

For now, the non-affiliated councillor retains her position, but her political future in the municipality seems more than complicated. The local PP, for its part, has not officially commented, although close sources indicate that the party may take internal measures. What is clear is that in Huévar del Aljarafe, local politics has taken an unexpected turn, and residents hope everything will be clarified as soon as possible.
