The Fuengirola City Council has tendered €1,000,347 for the renovation of Sevilla Street, with an execution period of 168 days.

The Fuengirola City Council has initiated the tender for the comprehensive renovation of Sevilla Street, one of the busiest roads in the municipality. The base budget amounts to €1,000,347.56, partly funded by a grant from the Provincial Council of Málaga. Interested companies can submit their bids until July 22.

The mayor, Ana Mula, accompanied by the Councillor for Infrastructure, José Sánchez, explained that the action responds to a community demand. "One of the streets that required more urgent intervention is Sevilla Street. Its residents requested it, rightly so, and we are going to address this need," she stated. The work includes the complete renewal of the water supply pipelines and the improvement of over 300 linear meters of the road. Existing parking spaces will be maintained.

This intervention adds to three others carried out in the San Cayetano neighbourhood during the current term, with a total investment exceeding €700,000. Notable among them are the renovation of the San José square and the area between San Salvador, Triana, and Sevilla streets. Additionally, a new water supply network has been installed for the streets of Estepona, San Vicente, Goya, Doctor Ochoa, and Núñez de Balboa.

The mayor highlighted the council's investment efforts in renewing public roads. "Since I became part of the city government, we have made a significant effort to renew all the roads in Fuengirola. It can be said that we have acted in all neighbourhoods and areas of the city, and that our city currently presents a modern state in line with the needs of the 21st century," she affirmed. However, she acknowledged that "the passage of time and the use of the roads necessitate continuous actions, repairs, and when necessary, renovations."

The expected execution period for the works is 168 days, so if awarded in August, they could be completed by early 2027. Companies wishing to bid for the contract must submit their proposals before July 22 at the General Registry of the City Council.
