Seville City Council has revealed the names of the honorees of Velá de Santa Ana 2026, including Cantores de Híspalis and guitarist Joselito Acedo. The festival, which will take place from July 14 to 26, will feature an unprecedented cultural and sporting offer.

Velá de Santa Ana 2026, the oldest festival in Seville, now has its programming and honorees. Seville City Council announced on Tuesday an edition that it describes as the most ambitious in recent years, with 13 days of cultural, sporting, and musical activities starting on July 14. The epicentre will once again be the Triana neighbourhood, with Altozano as the main night stage.

The delegate of the Triana District and Major Festivals, Manuel Alés, highlighted that “Velá de Santa Ana is the great celebration of the Seville summer and the best reflection of the pride, identity, and character of Triana.” In his speech, he emphasised that this year's programming “combines our traditions with top-level cultural, sporting, and musical proposals.”

Trianeros de Honor and Trianeros del Año: the recognized

Velá de Santa Ana 2026 will honour seven individuals and entities linked to the neighbourhood as Trianeros de Honor. Among them are guitarist Joselito Acedo, foreman Manuel Jesús Garduño Lara, the historic Cuchillería Castilla (represented by Enrique González), Juan Carlos Sánchez Rivero, the elder brother of Cachorro José Luis Aldea Carbajo, Carmen Coronado, and Esteban Romera Domínguez. All of them receive the award for their contribution to the identity and prestige of Triana.

The title of Trianeros del Año will be awarded to journalists José Antonio Rodríguez Benítez, the preacher of Seville's Holy Week 2026, and Alejandra Navarro González de la Higuera, deputy director of ABC de Sevilla. As Trianeros Adoptivos, Jessica Brea Morillo, Sebas Amaya (from bar Akela), and Lola de los Reyes will be recognised. The City Council wanted to reward individuals who, although not born in Triana, have rooted themselves in the neighbourhood and enriched it.

In the institutional section, the Honourary Institution will be the Instituto Vicente Aleixandre, while the Business Trajectory Award will distinguish Pipas Sevillanas, represented by Paco Arias. The Niculoso Pisano Award, which recognises ceramic art, will go to Jesús Alcarazo Velasco, and the Solidarity Award will be received by Hogar Nazaret. The Special Distinction for Artistic Trajectory will be awarded to Cantores de Híspalis, in celebration of their fifty years of career.

Cultural and sporting programming: from July 14 to 26

The Velá will kick off on July 14 with the photographic exhibition “Triana and its people, portrait of a neighbourhood,” by photographer Juan Romero Prieto, at the Civic Centre Las Columnas. On the 15th and 16th, San Jacinto School will host a Corral de Comedias, and on the 16th, the cultural meeting “From Passion to Velá: the shared word” will take place at the Brotherhood House of the Star.

The most deeply rooted traditions will once again have their space: the procession of the Virgen del Carmen on July 17, a petanque tournament and the unveiling of a ceramic at the Escalerilla del Tagüa on the 18th, and an aquathlon in the surroundings of Altozano and the Guadalquivir River on the 19th. From July 20, sport will take over with competitions in beach handball, 7-a-side football, veterans' 11-a-side football, futsal, paddle, pickleball, dominoes, social running, a fishing contest, and the traditional Cucaña, which will be held again from July 22 to 26 at the zapata of Calle Betis. The sporting programme will also include the Night Regatta of Triana on the Guadalquivir.

The competitions will take place at the Vega de Triana Sports Centre, Tejares Sports Centre, Santa Ana neighbourhood, Triana Bridge, and other spaces in the neighbourhood, with activities for all ages. The conference cycle at the Triana Market will address the history and heritage of the neighbourhood on July 22, 23, and 24, with presentations by José Fernández López, Pedro M. Martínez Lara, and Aníbal González Serrano.

Nights of Altozano: proclamation, Luitingo, and Cantores de Híspalis

The nights of Altozano will once again be the grand musical stage. On July 21, the proclamation will be delivered by Jesús Pozuelo. On July 22, Luitingo will perform, accompanied by El Charro de Triana. On July 23, Cantores de Híspalis will present the show “50 years of Cantores” to celebrate their half-century of trajectory. On July 24, a special performance will pay tribute to Nano de Jerez. The musical programme will be completed with a performance by Marta Lozano on July 25, and the grand finale will be provided by Dani Domínguez on July 26.

For the residents of Triana and all of Seville, Velá de Santa Ana 2026 presents itself as an unmissable summer event, with free activities for all audiences. The City Council has aimed to reinforce the participatory nature of the festival, integrating emerging sports such as pickleball and walking football, while maintaining classics like the cucaña and the night regatta. An opportunity to enjoy the neighbourhood and its unique atmosphere, from July 14 to 26.
